Tao Mbao Mbao Goes the Chant! Matata And Bensoul Hail Nairobi’s Matatu Culture In New Release

Matata and Bensoul are amping up the December heat with yet another banger!

Norway-based Kenyan all-boy group have teamed up with Sol Generation’s heavy-hitting singing lad Bensoul on the ultimate ode to matatu and Nairobi culture, a la Wyre and Nazizi’s Kenyan Boy, Kenyan Girl and Mayonde and Stone Jiwe’s Nairobi. On Matatu, The 5-member group prove that their deep-rooted love for their city remains unperturbed.

Donning Public Service Vehicles’ regalia, the group pay homage to the vibrant matatu culture. From the extreme aggression that comes with it, to the repetitive ‘tao mbao mbao’ chanting, to name-dropping Nairobi outskirts like Kibera and Umoja, the track screams of Nairobi appreciation.

Seeing as it would not be a complete Matata video without good choreography, the boys went in on this one and with a twist: They did it in a matatu! Iconic is an understatement. Enter Bensoul’s mellow vocals and you have another hit!
