Funk Avenue 254 is keeping it fresh and simple with their November 2018 release “Around You.”
The trio from the 254 has an urban hip-hop groovy sound to their music. Since their inception in 2016, the group of rappers Simz, Twist and melody -maker Tutai strive to curate a unique sound that speaks to their overall nature as individuals. Cool, urban and experimental the group has garnered quite the following as a group bubbling under the radar, ready to burst out into the mainstream. Though they might give first impressions of an urban hip-hop group, Tutai’s vocals add a new element when married to the lyrical flow of Simz and Twist. Managed by Simon Karanja and produced by Igamba Mbui the team is up for anything and eager to release their debut EP set for mid-2019.
Their track “Around You” is an easy listen. Creatively produced beats are set off with Tutai’s vocal range. Twist offers up great flow and Simz keeps it street dropping bars made so much better with some entertaining ad-libs. If their Youtube comment section is anything to go by, this trio could change up the musical landscape.
