‘The Acolyte’ has been cancelled after just one season.
The ‘Star Wars’ spin off show – which debuted earlier this year and showed the rise of the Sith around 100 years before ‘The Phantom Menace’ – has been scrapped despite the first series ending on a cliffhanger.
As reported by Deadline, Lucasfilm has decided not to continue with the Disney+ programme after the conclusion of its first run.
The show was created, written, and directed by Leslye Headland, and followed twins Osha and Mae (both played by Amandla Stenberg), who were separated as kids and believed each other had been killed.
Reaction to ‘The Acolyte’ was mixed, while there was some vile backlash to its inclusive cast and story featuring actors of colour and LGBTQ+ characters.
Lucasfilm is still producing ‘Star Wars’ series for Disney+, with ‘Skeleton Crew’ coming on December 3.
