The 2022 edition of Sports illustrated Swimsuit is out.
Breathtaking as it is customarily, this year’s edition features yet another bunch of reputable names: Ciara, Kim Kardashian, Maye Musk and Yumi Nu among 24 other women of different body types and backgrounds.
Each of the 4 main women has their own cover and is photographed different tropical locations around the world ranging from Barbados to the Dominican Republic. The 2022 edition is the publication’s 59th installment of the SI Swimsuit Issue, and it states that all of the women featured are representatives of positive change and trailblazing. As regards the versatility of said women, SI Swimsuit further reckons that it wanted women to know that “there are no expiration dates for our dreams and models do not have to check a specific box in order to be beautiful.”
Maye Musk, 74, the mother of Tesla mogul Elon Musk, is the first woman in her 70s to land a cover feature with the publication while Japanese model Nu is the first front-page plus-size Asian-American model to be featured on the iconic publication.
Ciara’s husband Russel Wilson gushed about his wife in an open letter in the magazine writing: “As you can probably tell, I’m incredibly proud of my wife. And now that she’s on the cover of SI Swimsuit, that’s one more thing for me to take pride in. I know it’s something she’s always wanted. And I know she’ll use the visibility that comes with being on the cover to inspire even more people—not only as a mother and the beautiful angel and the powerful woman that she is, but also as the businesswoman that she is, the fashion icon that she is.”
The 2022 SI Swimsuit issue hits newsstands May 19.
