Madaraka Festival CEO Simon Javan Okelo has shared new visuals for his ‘Omena’ track, off of the new ‘Madaraka Vibes’ album. The song is a love-letter to the popular Western Kenya delicacy, and the video depicts just that.
The song pays homage to the Luo/Lakeside fishing culture, exemplified by the different scenes in the video – aerial drone shots over Lake Victoria, residents eating at a makeshift restaurant (kibanda), the works!
‘Omena’ is produced and mixed and mastered by Shamir Tadeiya, a renowned Kenyan musician, also behind a few other tracks on the LP.
Over the weekend, Okelo, his One Vibe Africa Band and a selected horde of other musicians held a concert at Alliance Francaise, that made a part of the Madaraka Vibes album tour trek in the country.
Meanwhile, Okelo is gearing up for another landmark 2024 move – the Kenyan edition of Madaraka Festival. While the preparations are still underway, the concert is slated for December 14 in Kisumu. The Sauce will share more details on the festival as it unfolds.
