In a deeply personal statement marking his son Qhawe David Mahange’s first birthday, The Ultimatum South Africa star Nkateko Mahange opened up about the toxic dynamics of his relationship with fellow cast member Khanya Nqolase.
Released on January 12, 2025, the revelation has sparked widespread debate on social media. Mahange detailed how their relationship deteriorated to the point of endangering both his and their unborn child’s well-being.
Mahange accused Nqolase of engaging in dangerous behaviors while pregnant with their son.
“Our interactions became more toxic and harmful, not only for me but also for our unborn child,” Mahange wrote. “After witnessing her voluntarily consume very dangerous substances during her pregnancy, I felt compelled to stay close. I pretended to support her, ensuring I could protect our child both before and after his birth.”
Mahange also described enduring repeated episodes of physical and emotional abuse.
“She physically attacked me on multiple occasions, punching, scratching, and even using objects to harm me,” he alleged. “One of the most alarming incidents occurred during her pregnancy, when her aggression turned physical, leaving me deeply concerned for her safety and that of our unborn child.”
According to Mahange, the birth of their son did little to de-escalate the volatile situation. He claimed Nqolase’s temper worsened, leading to an incident where she allegedly stabbed him during an argument while he was holding their newborn.
“The most harrowing moment came when Khanya stabbed me during a heated exchange while I was holding Qhawe. Though physically injured, my primary concern was ensuring my son’s safety. This act of violence confirmed that the environment was no longer safe for him,” Mahange wrote.
The reality TV star further accused Nqolase of erratic behavior that extended beyond their personal relationship.
Mahange and Nqolase first gained attention in 2024 during the debut season of The Ultimatum South Africa on Netflix. Viewers widely criticized Nqolase for her on-screen behavior, including an incident of body-shaming castmate Sizakele Dlamini.
