Rihanna stood by her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, as he faced trial for felony assault in Los Angeles on Wednesday (29.01.2025).
The Grammy-winning singer was present in court, seated alongside Rocky’s mother and sister, offering her support during the proceedings.
A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, faces two felony counts of assault. The charges stem from allegations made by his former friend, Terrell Ephron—also known as A$AP Relli—who claims that Rocky fired a gun at him during an altercation in Hollywood in 2021, ABC News reports.
The trial, which is expected to last three weeks, commenced last Friday with opening statements. Both Rocky and Ephron were once part of the hip-hop collective A$AP Mob.
Ephron testified that he sustained minor injuries in the incident, with a bullet grazing his left knuckles. During his testimony, Ephron recounted his attempt to reconcile with Rocky before the confrontation turned hostile. He described the moment Rocky allegedly brandished the gun.
If convicted, Rocky faces up to 24 years in prison. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, asserting that he was in possession of a prop gun at the time.
