After rapper Akon announced his own perfume company, Konvict Cosmetics,in November and hip hop mogul Jay-Z struck a deal with Parlux Fragrances to launch a series of scents, actress and rapper Queen Latifah will debut her first fragrance Queen this fall.
Queen
The new perfume, which will be sold in a ruby red flask carrying a dimensional heart (see picture), is described as “reminiscent of aged Tequila” in the press release, with top notes of bergamot and mandarin.

Apparently a high proof mixture, Queen’s heart notes also include Cognac as well as jasmine and coriander. Patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean blended with incense and musk are guaranteed to make this a very rich and Oriental fragrance.

Parlux, which will produce and distribute the fragrance, had announced the partnership with Queen Latifah back in June 2008. The company also has stars such as singer Jessica Simpson and hotel heiress Paris Hilton under its belt.

The rapper earned her beauty credibility as the face of US beauty company Covergirl and has endorsed various beauty products in the past.

The new scent will premier in the US with an international roll-out shortly thereafter. Prices are yet to be announced.
