NAIROBI, Kenya, June 25 – For the first time, African mobile gaming teams will have a direct route to the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) through the newly introduced 2025 PUBG MOBILE Africa Cup.
The tournament, announced this week by PUBG MOBILE, offers Sub-Saharan African teams a chance to qualify for the global championship, which has been running since 2020 without direct African representation. Registration for the Africa Cup will run from June 26 to July 9 via the PUBG MOBILE app.
The competition will include online qualifiers, a group stage, and a grand finale scheduled for September in Kenya. Travel and accommodation costs for finalist teams will be covered by the organizers.
The winning team will secure a spot in the 2025 PMGC Finals and receive a share of the Africa Cup’s $8,000 prize pool. The top prize is $2,000, with $1,400 and $1,000 going to the second and third place teams, respectively. Rewards will be distributed to the top 16 teams.
The tournament is supported by smartphone manufacturer Infinix. Organizers say the competition is part of broader efforts to integrate African players into the global esports ecosystem amid growing interest in mobile gaming across the continent.
