NAIROBI,Kenya -A delegation of Principal Secretaries (PSs) this morning paid a heartfelt visit to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Dr. Oburu Odinga to console him following the twin losses in his family.
Dr. Odinga, who has been mourning the passing of his elder brother, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, who would have turned 81 years old yesterday, and his sister, Beryl Achieng Odinga, received the Government officials at his residence in an emotional meeting marked by solidarity and reflection.
The PSs present at the meeting conveyed the nation’s sympathies and underscored the collective respect that the government and the public hold for the Odinga family.
Among those who attended were Fredrick Ouma Oluga (Medical Services), Hon. Judy Naiyai Pareno (Justice, Human Rights and Constitutional Affairs), CPA Caren Ageng’o Achieng (Children Welfare Services) and Stephen Isaboke (Broadcasting & Telecommunications).
Also present were Caroline Wanjiru Karugu (Eastern African Community Affairs), Regina Akoth Ombam (Trade), Dr. Boniface Makokha (Economic Planning), Michael Lenasalon (Devolution), Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak (Science, Research and Innovation), Aden Abdi Millah (Shipping and Maritime Affairs), and Cyrell Wagunda Odede (Public Investment and Assets Management).
In their remarks, the PSs expressed deep condolences to Dr. Odinga and his family, honoring the enduring legacy of late Raila Odinga a towering figure in Kenya’s political landscape whose contributions spanned decades of public service and national reform.
The gathering also provided a platform for substantive discussion on the importance of sustaining focus on service delivery to Kenyans a core principle championed by the late Raila Odinga in the Broad-Based Government pact with President William Ruto.
Odinga and the Principal Secretaries highlighted the ongoing need for collaborative efforts between the government and political leadership to translate policy into meaningful action for the public.
In a joint message, the meeting emphasized full support for President William Ruto in his agenda to deliver essential services across the nation.
The PSs reaffirmed their commitment to working tirelessly within their ministries to implement programmes that uplift communities and improve the quality of life for all Kenyans.
“The late Raila Odinga’s vision for an inclusive, prosperous Kenya remains a beacon that guides our work. We reaffirm our dedication to service and to the people of Kenya,” one PS said.
Oburu thanked the PSs for their visit and reiterated his resolve to continue advocating for unity and national progress, even as his family mourns.
