President William Ruto has trademarked the ‘Mambo ni Matatu’ phrase.
The phrase went viral on social media last month when President Ruto issued a stern warning to sugar sector “cartels”.

Lawyer Adrian Kamotho said anyone seeking to use the phrase alongside the three fingers sign must seek permission from Dr Ruto.
The President is following in the footsteps of his deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who moved to trademark his moniker Right G earlier this year making it a protected intellectual property.
Trademark registration helps to protect against the infringement of intellectual property and such registration would last for ten years from the date of registration.
