The story of the late Bob Marley often regarded as the King of Reggae is coming to the big screen in 2024.
The first trailer for a new Bob Marley biopic from King Richard director Reinaldo Marcus Green has been released.
Bob Marley: One Love stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, who learned to play guitar for the movie, in the titular role, with Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die) as Rita Marley. Other actors joining the cast are James Norton (Little Women), Tosin Cole (Doctor Who), Anthony Welsh (Hanna), Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), Umi Myers (Silent Witness), and Nadine Marshall (The Smoking Room).
The film focuses on the period after a 1976 assassination attempt on Marley, as he prepares to return to Jamaica in 1978 for the One Love Peace Concert. It’s due in theaters on Friday, January 12, 2024.
The Jamaican reggae legend’s son Ziggy, daughter Cedella, and widow, Rita, produced the film alongside Robert Teitel.
In 1977, Marley was diagnosed with acral lentiginous melanoma; he died as a result of the illness in 1981. Some of Marley’s most popular songs include ‘One Love’, ‘Buffalo Soldier’, ‘Redemption Song’, ‘No Woman, No Cry,’ and ‘Three Little Birds’.
