The Omicron ‘Omarion’ variant is a topical conversation in the country today, all thanks to the Health Cabinet Secretary press briefing.
The new Covid variant whose first cases were reported in South Africa a few weeks ago has, according to the Health CS, made its way into the country after 3 new cases have been identified-2 South African nationals and a Kenyan national. The virus which now has now been traced in 63 countries is said to be two times more infectious than its predecessor, the Delta variant, the Omicron variant-which black twitter poked fun at it by likening its phonetics to that of RnB singer Omarion.

Information is still scanty on how best it would be to contain the new variant. “We are carrying out sequencing to see it’s spread. We expect it to become the dominant variant globally. We should all get vaccinated. Those vaccinated are not getting severe sickness,” said.
