Offices of Ruto, Gachagua and Mudavadi get extra Sh3.4bn in mini-budget

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 16 – The offices of President William Ruto, Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagu, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi have been allocated an additional Sh3.4 billion.

Additional allocations are contained in the second National Treasury’s 2022–23 Supplementary Budget.

Ruto’s office will receive a huge chunk of the allocation at Sh3.1 billion, followed by DP’s Sh166 million and Sh81.3 million under Mudavadi’s office.

Funds will go into salaries as well as operational and maintenance costs.

Other government departments whose allocations have been cut include the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and correctional services, among others.

Whereas State House will get a big chunk of the cash at Sh2.1 billion, the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service have been assigned Sh571.8 million.
