DCI denies summoning rapper King Kaka over ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’

King Kaka’ s ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ has taken Kenya by storm but what if it is just all about clout chasing?

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied summoning claims by Kenyan rapper King Kaka whose real names are Kennedy Ombima.

The ‘Dundaing’ hitmaker notified his fans and followers of the latest twist to the Wajinga Nyinyi controversy via his social media pages on Tuesday morning. “I have just been summoned by The CID,” posted King Kaka.

Activist Boniface Mwangi also has revealed that King Kaka had informed him that he was due to appear at the DCI on Tuesday at noon.

A video showing the rapper accompanied by Mr Mwangi and his entourage arriving at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu road is doing the rounds on social media.

However, this afternoon the Director of Criminal Investigations through its official Twitter handle said that the summon claims by the artist are completely false and warned against using the platform to seek media attention.

Shortly after DCI’s denial message the 32-year-old again took to his social media platforms to reveal a Mr. Onyancha had contacted him via phone to summon him and asked the investigations arm to investigate the matter as the said person had threatened him.

Since the release of his controversial new hit ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ which has garnered over a million views on YouTube, King Kaka has been trending on social media due to the song’s hard-hitting message. He has also been allegedly sued by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru for defamation as reported by The Sauce.

Kenyans on Twitter shared words of encouragement directed to the rapper with the hashtag #IStandWithKingKaka including some of them offering to take him to the DCI as a show of solidarity.
