Rekles has been making moves and we are not mad because he is here to remind us that he is the it guy with his new single dubbed ‘Deep Down’ and deep down we know Rekles is pure talent and straight fire, especially in this one.
‘Deep Down’ is an almost braggadocio song that also cuts across Rekles taking up his space in the industry and owning it. It is important for a hip-hop industry to be full of such pride from different artists regardless of there being real beef and this is what Rekles is riding on with this single.
According to Mdundo, the single is a fusion between hip-hop and dancehall. It has a progression that is quite different from what we have heard from Rekles before. The beat starts off in a very minimalist way with a pitched humming strum to it which is then layered quite heavil. This balances out the single and gives that gangsta yet laid back persona that Rekles seeks to achieve both in sound and lyrically.
Fans are just starting to get the best of Rekles and he is really on a new level.
Meanwhile, Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has dropped a new love song dubbed ‘Ongeza’.
‘Ongeza’ is Swahili word that loosely translates to ‘add’. In the new release, Diamond sings to his Love explaining how much she hurt him. He brings out their past love life and how beautiful it was. However, now that they are no longer together, he feels all she does is add pain to what he is already feeling.
The calmness in this track is a throwback to Diamond’s earlier releases.
So far, only the audio version is available online with the video expected later. The audio is doing really well on YouTube with over 700,000 views in under three days.
Meanwhile, the WCB CEO is currently flying high with a number of collaborations including Alicia Keys’ ‘Wasted Energy’ which stireed up quit some controversy after fans complained of Platnumz short feature on the new Keys album.
The uproar caught the attention of Alicia Keys’ husband Swizz Beats who noted that Diamond was oaky with his role in the song adding that more is yet to come.
“My Brother 4 life. Please let your fans know you did as you pleased on the rec and this is just part 1” he wrote.
Responding to Swizz Beats’ post, Diamond said: “OOOH yes!! More Bombs coming….”
Swizz Betas later noted that they will be working on a longer version of the song soon.
This was first posted on Mdundo.
Diamond being the only African artist to feature in the ‘Alicia’ album is obviously a big deal. The song ‘Wasted Energy’ was highly anticipated especially from East African fans who pride in Diamond Platnumz.
