Gossip blogger Edgar Obare alias His teaness has had his day in court.
According to his friend and fellow social media personality, Xtian Dela, Edgar who has amassed fame by exposing celebrity secrets was arrested on Thursday (30.07.20) and was today Monday (03.08.20) arraigned at Kiambu Law courts.
Dela’s social media posts revealed that Edgar is being charged with exposure of personal information and that the complainant is none other than popular YouTuber Natalie Tewa whose real name is Natalie Wanjiru Githinji.
Now, after being held for three days without bail and arraigned at the court this morning, Obare’s bail hearing is set for this afternoon at 2 pm.
Prior to his court date, soft spoken Obare had expressed concerns over his safety in Police custody on social media following his arrest. This prompted the quick action of Xtian Dela also known as Arthur Mandela who came to his rescue at the Gigiri Police station where his comrade was being held.
Dela organised for the provision of necessities like food and even called on Obare’s fans to speak up at the injustice committed against the blogger through the trending hashtag, #FreeEdgarObare.
The case leveled against Obare comes a few weeks after he posted Natalie Tewa’s visa information on Instagram in a bid to provide his audience with evidence that the beauty had indeed traveled to Dubai alongside Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho.
The story sparked alot of controversy as everyone tried to unearth the owner of a mysterious handbag from a photo that went viral on the plane. At first, some claimed that TV personality Betty Kyalo was the owner of the handbag but after more research and Betty shutting down the rumours, Tewa was soon exposed as the alleged owner of the bag.
Tewa did not disapprove the claims but she posted images on her social media with subliminal messages to say that she was minding her business.
This is not the first time that Obare’s work has landed him in trouble. Obare’s controversial career has seen him being summoned twice at the office of Director of Criminal Investigations. A couple of exposes on radio personality Felix Oduwor alias Jalang’o has landed him in trouble in the past.
While some laud Obare for standing strong in the face of adversity and giving them some much needed tea on celebrities, some have called him out for publishing unverified information and saying that is what he gets for being all up in people’s business.
Tewa is yet to publicly address the controversial Dubai trip and the subsequent case against Obare. Her break up with her Ugandan boyfriend Rnaze went viral last year.
