Naija queen Yemi Alade releases her 4th album ‘Woman of Steel’ in Kenya

Nigerian songstress Yemi Alade is in the country for the umpteenth time, this time round to release her latest album to her Kenyan fans.

The ‘Johnny’ hitmaker who officially released her th studio album dubbed ‘Woman of Steel’ on the 3oth of August 2019, has been to different cities like Paris, Lagos and London to promote it. Anyiko Public Relations organised a release party for the singer yesternight (15.09.19) at Blue Door, Westlands.

The star-studded event hosted by Sauti Sol’s Chimano saw popular Kenyan personalities come out to support the award-winning singer. These included singers Victoria Kimani, Naiboi, Nadia Mukami, Ivlyn Mutua, H_art the Band and radio personality Patricia Kihoro just to name a few.

Yemi who hails Kenya as her second home said that the album was a long time coming with some of the songs having being written three years prior to their release on the 15 tracked album.

Also speaking at the event, the hitmaker who is known to sing in Swahili and French revealed that her desire to reach her audience with her music is the reason why she sings in different languages aside from her native pidgin.

‘Woman of Steel’ features a major collabo with Beninese music royalty Angelique Kidjo and  Yemi did not forget to pay homage for the world acclaimed trailblazer. She praised the 59-year-old Kidjo for letting her work with her on ‘Shekere’.

Alongside the ‘Woman of Steel’ album, the 30-year-old singer announced her new film titled ‘Home’ which goes hand in hand with her second single off the album. Speaking at the event, Yemi intimated that the film highlights the unspoken injustices that women go through in African communities like rape by family members. She added that feedback from fans has encouraged her to make the movie a series shedding light on various injustices.

‘Woman of Steel’ is a diverse album which features hits like ‘Shake’, ‘Give Dem’, ‘Nobody’, ‘Remind You’, ‘Poverty’ as well as ‘Oh My Gosh’ remix featuring Rick Ross.
