Nadia Mukami Crowned The Best Female Artist In East Africa At Afrimma Awards

Kenyan singer Nadia Mukami took home the Best Female Artist in East Africa gong at the recently concluded Afrimma Awards in Texas, USA.

The elated singer took to social media to announce this win. “THE BEST FEMALE ARTIST IN EAST AFRICA @afrimma 2023!! WE WOOOON????????. Thank you @afrimma,” Mukami wrote.

The ‘Maombi’ crooner beat fellow Kenyan stars Nikita Kering and Fena Gitu to win the award. Others in the category included Tanzanians Nandy, Maua Sama, and Zuchu. Ugandans Spice Diana and Azawi also lost out to the mother of one.

In the Best Male Artist category, Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz was the winner after defeating his fellow countrymen Mbosso and Harmonize as well as Kenya’s Nyashinski and Bien.

The prestigious awards ceremony saw the crowning of other top African music stars in various categories. The late South African rapper AKA won the Best Male Southern Africa award, Nigeria’s Ayra Starr won the Best Female West Africa, Blaqbonez from Nigeria won the Best Male Rap Act, and Davido took home the Album of the Year award. Congolese star Fally Ipupa was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Nigeria’s Flavour won the Best Live Act award,
