NAIROBI, Kenya, April 30 – Mortein Doom has collaborated with the Ministry of Health (MoH) in a move aimed at sensitizing Kisumu residents on malaria mitigation measures.
The event, which comes against the backdrop of the World Malaria Day celebration, saw vulnerable women given Mortein Doom products to help shield them against malaria in the wake of the ongoing rains.
“At Reckitt, we are committed to complementing efforts to end malaria in Kenya and ensure that communities lead healthy lives. Malaria is preventable and curable because even a single mosquito can cause malaria,” said Reckitt Kenya Country Manager Asif Hashimi.
“However, we can protect ourselves by using our insecticide Mortein Doom that eliminate 100 percent of mosquitoes.”
Kisumu County ranks among the regions with the highest prevalence of malaria in Kenya, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), with the Lake Victoria region accounting for 27 percent of the of the prevalence.
Pregnant women and children under the age of 5 are particularly vulnerable.
