Kenyan media personality Janet Mbugua Ndichu is now a published author.
Janet wears many hats, from a mother of two, wife, television host, gender equality advocate, brand ambassador and now an author.
The personality announced the release of her first book titled ‘My First Time’ during the National period day which was marked on the 19th of October 2019.

According to Janet the book which was published by Longhorn is a compilation of menstruation stories by various Kenyan personalities. Some of these personalities include Adelle Onyango, Caroline Mutoko, Carol Radull, Farhana Oberson and Sharon Mundia.
The book is currently available to preorder via Janet’s social media pages and 10% of the proceeds will go tp providing innovative solutions to addressing period poverty in Kenya.
The ‘Here And Now’ host does not shy away from talking about periods and advocating for period equality in a bid to stop the stigma around that time of the month.
Ten per cent of girls in sub-Saharan Africa, where Kenya is located, miss school when menstruating. Because of the culture of shame surrounding menstruation, girls often miss school while menstruating since they do not have the proper products to deal with their period.
