NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 9 — Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has dismissed claims security agencies raided the home of his predecessor Fred Matiangi on Wednesday night.
Kindiki dismissed claims by Matiangi’s lawyers as false in a statement on Thursday.
The Interior CS said no law enforcement agencies had orders to pursue Matiangi dismissing assertions the National Police Service (NPS), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) may have raided his home.
“This allegation is utterly FALSE,” he asserted.
“No police officer(s) or any security agent from any Government institution or department was dispatched to the home of Dr. Matiang’i to arrest, harass or otherwise interfere with his Constitutional rights in any manner whatsoever,” Kindiki said.
The Interior CS affirmed the country’s security agencies remain apolitical and focused on addressing the security challenges that the country faces.

He said anyone with information on the incident to come forward and report to the security agencies for action.
“Any person with information relating to the alleged incident at Dr. Matiang’i’s home last night is advised to file a formal complaint at the nearest police station for investigations and appropriate action,” Kindiki said.
Earlier Thursday, former Matiangi filed an application seeking anticipatory bail and to stop the police or any agent from arresting or harassing him and his family.
His lawyers led by Danstan Omari, Samson Nyaberi, Sandra Wambui said strangers people appeared at his Karen residence seeking to carry out a search and arrest for an unknown offence.
Omari stated that the police ought to had carried summons or warrant of arrest issued by the court to enable them conduct search or effect arrest.
