Man who assaulted a watchwoman in a viral video arrested and arraigned in court

Justus Kamoja, the man who was captured on camera assaulting a female security guard at a Nairobi estate, has been arraigned in court today (27.11.19).

This is following the arrest of the 30-year-old yesterday (26.11.19) after members of the public called for the swift action of law enforcement officers when a video of him beating a watchwoman went viral.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the arrest. DCI has further thanked members of the public who contacted them in relation to the incident.

The incident, which is believed to have happened in Komarock, was captured by a CCTV camera. In the viral video, the motorist, without provocation, is seen repeatedly assaulting the guard with punches and slaps, even knocking her down with a heavy blow.

At one point, when the security guard breaks free of Mr Kamoja’s brutal attack, he still pursues her while shoving and pushing her around.

The incident comes after another man believed to a supermarket supervisor was caught on camera assaulting a cashier at a popular Supermarket outlet in Kajiado.

According to the DCI, Mr Ahmed Keruti Tarayia, an EastMart was arraigned before Kajiado Law Court yesterday & pleaded not guilty to the charge. “He was denied bail & remanded in prison custody. The case will be mentioned on 6th Dec. 2019, DCI tweeted.
