Renowned songstress Bulelwa Mkutukana, famously known as Zahara, has passed away.
According to South African media outlets, the ‘Loliwe’ hitmaker, aged 35, died at a hospital in Johannesburg on Monday (11.12.2023) after battling liver complications that had led to her hospitalization nearly a fortnight ago.
The Afro-Soul singer who begun singing at the age of six, was a self-taught guitarist. she sang in her native language of Xhosa and English.
Zahara had a big family, as she was the sixth out of seven children. She was born on 9 November 1987 to her mum and dad, Nokhaya and Mlamli Mkutukana, and they lived in East London, South Africa.
Zahara’s musical legacy spans five studio albums, with her inaugural 2011 release, Loliwe, achieving double platinum status. In the course of the last 12 years, she solidified her position as one of the nation’s most acclaimed musicians, captivating audiences with her distinctive and captivating musical style.
She leaves behind her fiancé Mpho Xaba.
