Is there possibly one thing that Lisa Christoffersen cannot do? Seems unlikely. Having defied odds and beat stage 4 cancer 18 years ago, her zeal to win at life has been on overdrive since.
The former Real Housewives of Nairobi cast member is gearing up for one of her biggest ventures yet – driving in an all-women’s team at this year’s WRC Safari Rally.
The ambitious lifestyle connoisseur is hell-bent on making history this year, with her 4-woman crew dubbed The Lionesses set to take on the exhilarating drive through the rough terrain of Naivasha.
“A lot of mental and physical preparation goes into getting ready for this high-octane sport. Strength training, stretching, kickboxing, boxing, pilates and yoga as well some swimming in-between to boot are some of the ways I have been gearing up. Mentally, I get my mind ready every morning, tapping into an alternate reality for the journey I’m about to embark on,” She informs.
Rallying goes beyond the wheels, heavy gear and clouds of smoke for Lisa. A vocal stage-four cancer survivor, Lisa uses her love for the sport for advocacy and philanthropic work. This year’s WRC is no exception for her. She states: “This year I’m driving for change. I want to support children in Kenya that suffer from cancer. They are deserving of moral, emotional and financial support to maneuver their way through the not-so-easy journey.”
Lisa lets us in an upcoming major growth spurt move in Kenya, that has yet to be announced. Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba is set to unveil a rally school in Kenya, an undeniable first in the sports realm.
Lisa’s fascination with the motorsports can be traced back to her family. Her father, Eric Christoffersen, is a renowned rally driver.
This year’s WRC Rally is a milestone edition, seeing a return to its traditional Easter Weekend slot, after a 26-year hiatus. It kicks off on March 28 and grinds to a halt on March 31.
