Multidisciplinary artist Liboi returns with the second single off her forthcoming sophomore EP, ‘SAFARI.’
The record ‘Safari’ is a product of an in-artist residency the ‘Ukweli’ singer was part of in Tanzania in mid-March to April where she met different creatives and shared ideas, experiences, and culture resulting in this track.
‘Safari’ expresses the idea of embarking on a long journey with so many worries and doubts. It highlights the power of music and art in healing by showing how the speaker desires a song that will provide comfort and solace throughout the journey; A song that will help them connect with and comprehend the diverse people they will encounter from around the world.
The aim is to also show how music has the power to bridge cultural gaps and facilitate understanding between people from different corners of the world to make meaningful connections with each other. The journey is not just physical; it’s also about finding a sense of belonging and “home” among the people they will meet.
It metaphorically links the concept of using a song to connect with others to the idea of using art and music as tools for cultural exchange.
