NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 16 – A City lawyer has moved to court to stop the new National Social Security Fund (NSSF) deductions announced last week.
In an urgent application, lawyer John Ndegwa wants the court the court to issue a mandatory injunction to halt the board from implementing the decision as contained in the advertisements dated 12th January , 2024.
He says the move to increase the deductions is coming at a time when Kenyans are faced with social economic crisis and the court should take serious consideration and issue the orders sought.
The lawyer argues that both civil servants and those working in the private sectors earn very low salaries which cannot be further deducted.
He has sued the board, the Labour Cabinet Secrtary and the Attorney General.
The urgent application will be placed before the judge for directions.
