NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 13 — National Police Service (NPS) Inspector General Japhet Koome has reiterated Kenya’s commitment to global efforts aimed addressing transnational crime.
Koome gave the commitment on Monday during a meeting with the President of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), Maj Gen Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi.
The two met at NPS Headquarters in Nairobi.
The INTERPOL Chief who also visited NPS Command and Control Centre applauded NPS for embracing technology in the fight against crime, and urged the agency to expand and maximize on information sharing, and utilization of INTERPOL Crime Database.
The INTERPOL delegation also included the Vice President INTERPOL (Africa), Garba Baba UMAR (Nigeria), and INTERPOL Executive Committee Delegates Anne-Marie NAINDA (Namibia) and Alas RAGAB (Egypt).
Also present were DIG-KPS, Mr. Edward Mbugua, DIG-APS, Mr. Noor Gabow, DCI Mr. Mohamed Amin, Commandant GSU Mr. Douglas Kanja, SAIG, and the Head of INTERPOL National Central Bureau (INTERPOL NCB) Nairobi, Mr. Saiya Baraza, AIG among other senior police officers.
INTERPOL has 195 Member Countries and Kenya hosts both INTERPOL NCB and Regional Bureau for Eastern Africa Region at DCI Headquarters in Nairobi.
