Reality star and billionaire mogul Kim Kardashian snagged the Fashion Icon of 2021 at the People’s Choice Awards.
The mega star, draped in an all-black ensemble, akin to the ones she has been rocking in the recent few months, received the award presented to her by actress Tracee Ellis Ross. Kardashian took to the stage and thanked fans, designers and everybody who had been instrumental in her fashion journey.
Thanking designers like Burberry Group’s Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci and Balmain’s Creative Director Olivier Rousteing, she had the crowd loudly applauding when she thanked Kanye next. “Thank you to Kanye for introducing me to the fashion world. I fell in love with fashion and I’m inspired by so many different people. It is a dream that I get to wake up, wear these amazing clothes and take risks,” she quipped.
While the crowd seemed enthusiastic about her win, other people may have not felt otherwise. The SKIMS entrepreneur is trending on twitter, with many tweets oozing of disapproval of her win. Here are samples:
This is not the first is on the receiving end of colossal flack for winning a fashion accolade. In 2018, the crowd at the CFDA Fashion Awards seemingly booed as she received the Fashion Influencer award.
