The Shujaaz Memorial Concert, a tribute concert in honor of the lives lost by innocent protesters killed by police officers in the last 3 weeks, is underway at Uhuru Park.
A lineup of renowned Kenyan artistes and creatives are set to take to the stage and entertain thousands of Kenyans set to throng the grounds to pay homage to the departed.
Also dubbed ShuGenz Memorial Concert, the gig will pitch camp at the CBD-based grounds between 12pm and 7pm on Sunday, July 7 – a symbolic move that coincides with the day’s ‘New Saba Saba’ theme. The free-entry concert will see mourners-cum-patriots pay homage to the brutal state killings of innocent protesters against bad governance, the controversial 2024 finance bill, among a myriad other ills of the ruling Kenyan government.
Exposing the hypocrisy and wayward nature of Kenyan churches, activist Boniface Mwangi had earlier informed: “If you want to understand how captured the Kenyan church is, no church we approached was willing to allow us to hold a requiem mass service for all the Kenyans murdered during the protests. They’re all afraid of getting targeted by Zakayo. The church should be fearless but but…”
