Kenyan tech enthusiast Roy Kanyi has earned a spot on TikTok’s highly anticipated 2025 Discover List, marking a proud moment for the country’s digital creator community.

Now in its third year, the annual Discover List celebrates 50 standout creators from around the world across five categories: Icons, Innovators, Foodies, Educators, and Originators. This year, six creators from Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) have been recognised for their creativity, impact, and influence on the global stage.

Representing Kenya in the Educators category, Roy Kanyi has become a trusted source for tech enthusiasts on TikTok. Known for simplifying complex technology topics, he offers engaging and relatable content on gadgets, smartphones, televisions, and accessories. His practical tech tips and insightful reviews help audiences make informed purchasing decisions, cementing his place as a leading voice in digital education.

In addition to Roy Kanyi, five other SSA creators have made their mark on the 2025 Discover List. Tosin Samuel from Nigeria, known as Tspicekitchen, captivates audiences with his mouth-watering recipes that blend classic Nigerian dishes with international flavors. Abena Amoakoaa Sintim-Aboagye of Ghana, popularly known as Chefabby, highlights the richness of Ghanaian cuisine with innovative takes on traditional dishes. Charity Ekezie from Nigeria uses humor to challenge stereotypes about Africa, captivating millions with her viral skits and notable collaborations, including one with Bill Gates.

Fanuel Masamaki from Tanzania, known as Zerobrainer0, redefines sports content with his comedic football commentary and signature beige blazer style. Recently, he earned the title of Sports Creator of the Year at the TikTok Creator Awards in South Africa. South African duo Thato Seth Mathobela (TitoM) and Bongani Kenneth Sibanyoni (Yuppe) have propelled South African sounds onto the global stage with viral musical hits, capturing audiences across Europe and beyond.

The 2025 Discover List highlights TikTok’s role in breaking barriers, fostering creativity, and amplifying voices worldwide. Boniswa Sidwaba, Head of Content Operations, SSA at TikTok, praised the honorees, stating, “These creators have sparked trends, started meaningful conversations, and showcased creativity while fostering safe spaces for their communities.”
