Kenyan Singer Avril Shares Update on Marya’s Health And How Fans Can Contribute Towards Her Recovery

Kenyan singer Marya, best known for her chart-topping 2010 hit ‘Chokoza’ featuring Avril, is currently recovering at home after suffering a stroke caused by a blood clot that limited oxygen flow to her brain.

In an emotional update shared by fellow artist and longtime friend Avril on Instagram ,Marya’s family expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers received over the past week. The statement confirmed that while Marya has been discharged from the hospital, her recovery journey is far from over.

“Physiotherapy is ongoing twice a day, and although the left side of her body is still unresponsive, we remain hopeful and encouraged by her strength,” the message read.

The update, which has since circulated widely on social media, served not just as a health update but also as a heartfelt plea for continued financial support from fans, friends, and the Kenyan music community.

“Marya and her family still need us,” Avril emphasized. “Please continue to support and reach out to her personally as you’re able. Every call, message, prayer, or visit goes a long way.”
