Conversations and divergent opinions as regards Young, Famous and African are still rife since the show premiered on Netflix, to widespread critical acclaim.
Some people may have loved the show, so much so that they are yearning with bated breath for a follow-up season already. Others, not so much. Enter the batch that feel that casting could have been better, with prospective names they strongly feel could have made the show.
Kenyan viewers have notably had a lot to say about the show. Young, Famous and African only had cast members from select countries like South Africa, Tanzania and Nigeria. Local viewers would rather there was at least one Kenyan celebrity on the show. Flamboyant Keroche heiress Anerlisa Muigai confessed to have been approached by the producers to make the crew, a request she said she turned down. “Jokes aside, they sent me an email asking if I was interested to be in it but turned it down,” She responded to a fan. Betty Kyallo also expressed interest in having a spot on the show.
Other notable names have had lots more to say about the reality show. Comedian Eric Omondi, on the flip side, is convinced the masterminds ripped off his infamous Wife Material show concept for the show. He reacted: “The format used on the show is similar to the used on Wife Material. Either someone has been watching and stole the format or it’s a mere coincidence.”
Fellow comedian Eddie Butita says fans have reached out to him saying he too should have been a part of the show. “Thank you for believing in me. I do not take it for granted that you have o much trust in me, currently I’m busy but if they reach out, I will spare some time,” read his reaction.
Now, Kenyans have rallied to suggest yet another big name up on the list of worthy contenders. Singer Akothee is who. Basing their argument on her larger-than-life personality, unabashed vocal nature and the obvious fame, they feel she would have been the other major standout after Zari.
