Kakamega man beats son to death for allegedly stealing chicken

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 28 – Police in Kakamega are holding a 36-year-old man in connection with the killing of his 13-year-old son for allegedly stealing chicken.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the father used a wooden cane to discipline his son on Sunday evening, accusing him of stealing two chickens before disappearing from home for four days.

The incident came to light on Monday night when Assistant Chief Modester Mujion Shivoka of Shing’odo Sub-location reported the matter to Shinyalu Police Station around 11:45 pm.

Police say the victim succumbed to his injuries inflicted during the beating.

“The son became unconscious after the beating and he was rushed to Shieywe private hospital in khayega whereby he was pronounced dead on arrival,” read a police report obtained by Capital FM News

The deceased’s body has been transferred to Mukumu Mission Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a postmortem examination.

Police officers have visited the scene where victim was allegedly beaten to death and the morgue.

Preliminary examination on the body revealed that multiple visible bodily injuries with blood stains.

Detectives from Kakamega East are actively investigating the incident to gather more details surrounding the circumstances of the tragic event.
