Nairobi, Kenya, Nov 17 – Ten pupils have today received fully funded high school education scholarships worth Kes 3 million shillings, courtesy of the Jubilee Live Free Art Competition by Jubilee Life Insurance.
The ten were part of the 10,000 participants in the annual art contest that seeks to promote creativity and self-expression among young children and allows children to express their understanding of freedom through artwork.
The competition which is in its third phase was open to all primary school children from both public and private primary schools under the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya between Grade 1 and Grade 4.
More than 10,000 artworks from over 300 schools in 19 counties were received, each showcasing the diversity and unique perspective of the young children.
Entries were then assessed by a panel of experienced and talented art judges and creative professionals responsible for identifying award-winning pieces.
The judging criteria included creativity, originality, and adherence to this year’s theme of “Celebrating Jubilant Moments’.
Participating pupils were required to submit original artworks illustrating their understanding of the theme in various mediums including painting, drawing, collage, or mixed media.
In addition to the fully funded high school scholarships, the ten pupils will receive personalized mentorship programs that will be offered courtesy of Jubilee Life Insurance.
At the same time, the winners, winning schools, and top winners per county received gift hampers courtesy of Jubilee Life Insurance.
Speaking during the award ceremony, Jubilee Life Insurance Chairman Zul Abdul said that the ever-growing number of participants of the annual Jubilee Live Free Art Competition was a testament to the growing interest and the unique relevance of the arts and culture space.
He added that by empowering young minds through creativity and imagination, we are essentially nurturing the seeds of artistic expression, fostering a vibrant culture of art that enriches our communities.

While speaking during the award ceremony, Ministry of Education Director General Dr. Elyas Abdi said that cultivating the seeds of creativity is not only a commendable endeavor but also an essential investment in the country’s future.
