Weird World: Jealousy leads man to cover his girlfriend in ketchup in a strange case of domestic violence

A man was arrested for covering his girlfriend in ketchup.

Peter Wagman, 37, from Pinellas Park, Florida was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly poured sauce his 41-year-old girlfriend because he thought she was having an affair.

According to the arrest affidavit, which was acquired by The Smoking Gun, the couple had “been in arguments over infidelity by the victim. At around 4:45 AM Sunday, cops report, the victim awoke “to ketchup being poured on her by” Wagman, who was yelling, “That’s what you get, bitch.”

According to the Smoking Gun report, when police arrived at the residence, they found the woman “covered in ketchup.”

Wagman denied the allegations and has pleaded not guilty but was arrested and charged with domestic battery after ketchup was found on the “right side of his pants” following the incident.

Police do not believe that drugs, alcohol or mental health, played a part in this case.

According to a 2014 report published by UN Women,  39% of women in Kenya have experienced domestic violence. Research by Kenya National Bureau of Statistics indicated that this percentage is the proportion of ever-partnered women aged 15-49 years experiencing intimate partner physical and/or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime.
