Jamaican reggae-dancehall luminary, Buju Banton, has been struck by the tragic loss of his 20-year-old son, Miles Myrie.
Sharing the heart-wrenching news on Instagram, the 50-year-old music icon, born Mark Anthony Myrie, posted a poignant photo of his son, accompanied by the words “Sip papa God knows.”
Earlier this week, Jahazeil Myrie, another son of Buju Banton, confirmed the sorrowful news to Jamaican news outlet Observer Online, stating, “Yes, it is true. It is not my place to disclose personal information about Miles, that’s my father’s prerogative, but Miles was an exceptional individual, with a pure soul, so I felt compelled to acknowledge his passing.”
It is unclear what led to the death of young Miles who resided in Miami at the time of his demise.
Numerous esteemed reggae figures have extended their sympathies to the Banton family. Reggae icon Beres Hammond conveyed, “My deepest condolences to you and your family, my brother.” Sean Paul expressed, “Jah Jah! Condolences to you and the family, my brother!” Meanwhile, Gramps Morgan offered his support, stating, “Mighty, My Heart is with you Bredda. Prayers with you, the mom, and the family. Stay strong Mi Bredda!”
