‘Insecure’ star Issa Rae lands a new role as Spider-woman

American writer and producer Issa Rae is the newest superhero in town.

The ‘Insecure’ star is set to voice Jessica Drew, better known as Spider-woman in the sequel to Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse.

The sequel is set to debut in October 2022 with Shameik Moore returning as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy.

It’s great to have Issa Rae voicing the character because she has been a long-time fan telling Variety “Since the third grade, I’ve loved Spider-man, comic books, memorabilia, everything.”

In the past Issa had her reservations about joining a superhero franchise because they were “over-saturating the character” however she is a huge fan and described it as a “dream come true.”

The Spider-verse details are still under wraps so we’ll have to wait for the web-slinging hero to grace our screens,

However Rae is currently filming the fifth and last season of Insecure and she recently vowed to never star in any of her productions again.
