Idris Elba has secured a plot of land in Zanzibar to establish a film studio, marking a significant step in bolstering Africa’s burgeoning film industry.
According to reports, the renowned British actor and DJ has received approval to contribute to the cinematic landscape of the Tanzanian archipelago, aiming to create a studio comparable to those in “Hollywood, Nollywood, or Bollywood.”

This venture, potentially dubbed “Zollywood,” was announced by Zanzibar’s investment minister Shariff Ali Shariff during the Zanzibar International Film Festival that was held this past week.
