Singer Avril is opening up on the rather disappointing performance of her latest song release dubbed, ‘Danger.’
A few weeks ago, the songstress made headlines after fashion designer Nimrod Nick questioned why the song had garnered only about 800 views after being released eight hours prior, despite Avril’s celebrity status and illustrious showbiz career. After posting a screenshot showing the very negligible views, social media reactions ensued.
In a new interview, the ‘Kitu Kimoja’ hitmaker discusses claims that she churns music inconsistently, a fact that people claim is ailing her ailing music career. Avril is adamant that she does not obsess over recognition before releasing music and does it because it is her passionate and so it can resonate with her fans.
“I have this thing my real fans know, on 30th of every April I always release new music and that has been the norm, guys who say that I don’t release stuff are those that don’t follow what I do…my songs will trend when I die, if they don’t trend now they eventually will and I don’t do music for the claps but if eventually people associate my music with being celebrated that would be nice,” She quips.
Nonetheless, she admits to not having qualms about the recognition that comes with it, much as she does not care for it. She further says she took nothing personally, though the views saddened her.
‘Danger,’ which features Brandy Maina, currently has 50, 000 views about 12 days after its release.
