Beyonce has scored her maiden Oscar nomination. Yes, Queen Bey is now in the running for a trophy at the upcoming Oscars.
Already with countless awards under her belt thanks to her hugely successful musical career, with 28 Grammys and countless other awards, Beyonce is now eyeing an Oscar award. Her song Be Alive off of the King Richard soundtrack has been nominated for Best Original Song at the 2022 Oscars. The song plays on the ending credits of King Richard, which stars Will Smith.
Be Alive, cowritten by Beyonce and Dixon, marked Beyonce’s return to the scene since 2020’s Black is King, and has had plenty of race reviews, as has King Richard. Speaking of, the movie, that depicts the story of Serena and Venus Williams has received a total of 6 nominations overall at this years ceremony.
While this is her first Oscar nod, it is not her first crossover into film. She has scored 6 Golden Globes in her career, among them for her role as Deena Jones in the 2006 Broadway adaptation movie Dreamgirls.
