NAIROBI, Kenya Jun 27 – The High Court in Nakuru has issued interim orders restraining a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer from allegedly threatening and harassing the family of a businesswoman linked to an ongoing murder case.
In the orders issued by the court, Captain Edwin Kaunga was barred from directly or indirectly harassing, intimidating or threatening Nyokabi Mugweru and her family pending the hearing and determination of the case.
The court also directed the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Nakuru Police Station to ensure compliance with the orders.
The application was filed by Nyokabi Mugweru, who accused the KDF officer of issuing threats while being held in remand prison.
The matter is scheduled for inter partes hearing on July 7 after the court directed that the application be formally served upon the respondent.
Captain Kaunga is currently in remand facing a murder charge in connection with the death of Ann Mugweru.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has also been enjoined in the proceedings as an interested party.
According to court documents, the alleged threats were made through a mobile phone number believed to have been used from prison.
Nyokabi further claimed that a caller identifying himself as Edwin contacted several family members and allegedly threatened the child of the deceased.
The court orders now remain in force pending the hearing and determination of the application.
