Grammy Winner Tems Releases Her New Body Of Work ‘Born In The Wild’

Nigerian superstar Tems has finally dropped her highly anticipated debut album, “Born In The Wild.”

This 18-track project marks a monumental moment for the Afrobeats artist who rose to prominence through her captivating vocals and genre-bending sound.

“Born In The Wild” isn’t just a collection of songs; it’s a culmination of Tems’ remarkable journey. Following her electrifying performance at Coachella this year, where she debuted the single “Me & U,” Tems has kept fans eagerly awaiting this release.

The album features previously released hits “Love Me JeJe” and “Me & U,” alongside exciting collaborations with fellow Nigerian artist Asake on “Get It Right” and hip-hop heavyweight J. Cole on “Free Fall.”

This project arrives after a whirlwind few years for Tems. In 2023, she became the first female Nigerian artist to win a Grammy, solidifying her place as a global force in music. Tems is also an alumna of Spotify’s EQUAL program, an initiative dedicated to amplifying the voices of talented female African musicians.

Data from streaming giant Spotify paints a clear picture of Tems’ dedicated fan base. With over 21.4 million user-generated playlists featuring her music in the past year, it’s evident that fans can’t get enough of her sound. While her audience leans slightly male (50%), a strong 47% female listenership demonstrates her broad appeal. Interestingly, the core of her fan base falls between the ages of 23-27 (32%), with those aged 28-34 following closely behind (23%).

Looking at her most streamed songs over the past month, “Love Me JeJe” and “Me & U” unsurprisingly hold the top spots. However, tracks like “Higher,” “Free Mind,” “Fountain,” and “Found” featuring Brent Faiyaz showcase the depth and variety of Tems’ artistry.
