Google is opening its first development centre in Nairobi and will hire 100 new employees in the new hub as it seeks to expand its base in the continent.
Among the new employees sought by the firm include engineering managers, product managers, software engineers, and developer relations engineers.
‘’To help realize Google’s mission, we will be hiring visionary engineers, product managers, UX designers, and researchers to lay the foundation for significant growth in the coming years,” the firm said in a post. Senior UX Designers or UX Researchers are also sought to create ‘’transformative products and services for people in Africa and around the world’’
“We’re looking for talented, creative, and collaborative people who can help solve difficult and important technical challenges, such as improving the smartphone experience for people in Africa or building products that will help everyone to thrive together,” Google said in a statement.
How to apply
Qualified and interested applicants will be expected to visit the company’s careers section at careers.google.com where detailed descriptions for each job have been outlined.
After identifying the type of job, the interested applicants then proceed to apply for the position by filling a form where they are expected to upload an updated resume.
Applicants are also expected to provide their contact details including an email address and a phone number, their academic qualifications, a cover letter and work experience.
The new office is part of Google’s expansion in Africa. The tech giant announced recently that it was ready to invest Ksh100 billion on the continent (US$1 billion) in a span of five years.
It is estimated that 300 million people actively use the internet in Africa.
