Following an electrifying performance of his iconic track ‘Gasolina,’ which played a pivotal role in globalizing reggaeton, the 46-year-old singer shared his decision to shift his focus to his religious faith.
In a heartfelt speech delivered in Spanish to an enthralled audience of over 18,000 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee expressed the significance of this moment in his life.
“My people, this day is the most important day for me. Living a life of success is not the same as living a life with purpose,” he conveyed.
Despite international acclaim and accolades, a sense of emptiness persisted within him, a void he declared was now filled by his newfound spiritual journey.
Wearing stylish sunglasses that couldn’t conceal the tears streaming down his face, Daddy Yankee confessed that the days of feeling unfulfilled were over.
Quoting a Bible verse in Spanish, he stated, “What good will it be for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” With deep emotion, he declared, “Tonight, I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me, and I will live for Him,” raising his hand to the sky.
In a symbolic move, Daddy Yankee announced a “new beginning” under his birth name, Ramón Ayala, signaling a profound personal and artistic transformation.
