Renowned DJ Joe Mfalme and five others have been freed from accusations of killing a police officer.
Mfalme was freed along with two of his staff and three police officers after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) informed the court that only Allan Ochieng would face charges.
They were all under investigation for the death of Kabete DCI officer Felix Kintos, but the prosecution says only Ochieng has been found culpable.
Mfalme, speaking after the decision, expressed his relief, stating, “I am grateful for the outcome and for the faith that justice has been served. This has been a challenging time for all of us, and I appreciate the support we have received.”
This significant development comes following a directive from the Director of Public Prosecutions in a letter dated April 5, 2024, wherein it was advised that Mfalme, his driver and photographer can be called upon to provide testimony in the proceedings as a state witness.
Furthermore, the same correspondence from the DPP disclosed that the primary suspect, Allan Ochieng’ aka Hype Ballo, who worked as Mfalme’s Hype man has been formally charged with the offence of murder.
This pivotal step marks a significant advancement in the legal process, signalling a firm commitment to pursuing justice for the victim.

As the case unfolds, all eyes are now set on the Kiambu High Court, where Ochieng’ is scheduled to face the charges on Monday, April 8.
