NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 23 – More than 500 international experts are gathered in Nairobi for the two-day Global Bioeconomy Summit 2024, aimed at developing strategies and policies to advance the bioeconomy.
The summit, which brings together participants from 65 countries, is focused on addressing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and desertification through sustainable bioeconomy practices.
Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Andrew Karanja, highlighted that the bioeconomy offers opportunities to diversify sources of economic growth through value addition to biomass, distributed manufacturing, and improved supply chains.
Experts at the summit stressed the importance of international cooperation to maximize the bioeconomy’s potential in supporting global sustainability goals. The summit concludes today with key recommendations expected to guide future policy development.
