NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 23 – Inaugural East African Employability Summit and Uongozi Career Awards 2023will be held in Nairobi Kenya from November 22-23, 2023 at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).
Themed “Closing the Gap; A Decade of Investing in Youth Employability Skills in East Africa,” the summit will serve as a platform to evaluate the strides taken by the EastAfrican Community in bridging the employability skills gap, an initiative set in motion a decade ago.
Convened by the Corporate Career Academy (CAA) in conjunction with the CUEA and the government of Kenya, the summit offers a unique opportunity to pause and reflect on East Africa’s progress, share best practices, tackle impediments, and foster a community-wide collaboration to dislodge the challenge of youth employment.
The overarching vision is to achieve 100 per cent employability rates and seamless transitions from learning to earning for East Africa’s youth.
The Summit will bring together stakeholders from higher education, out-of-school youth employment and entrepreneurship partners, government and policymakers, the private sector, and actors dedicated to transforming the Sub-Saharan employment landscape.
The Uongozi Career Awards, introduced in 2022 by CCA, are an integral part of this event. These awards seek to recognize the outstanding contributions of ecosystem leaders in the region’s career development space.
The Uongozi Career Awards are a testament to the commitment and dedication of individuals and organizations making a substantial impact in the youth employment arena.
The event promises a comprehensive program that includes a stakeholder’s breakfast, pre-summit networking cocktail, high-level panel discussions, student pitching and deal room, exhibition and the Awards gala night.
It will be an opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals and organizations committed to reshaping the employment landscape in East Africa.
