NAIROBI, Kenya, April 22 – Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya has officially taken over as Principal Secretary for the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, succeeding Amos Gathecha, who now serves as Deputy Head of Public Service.
The transition was formalized at Harambee House during a ceremony attended by senior ministry officials and heads of semi-autonomous government agencies.
Dr. Imbunya, a former Dean at Kaimosi Friends University, pledged to prioritize innovation, inclusivity, and mental wellness across the public sector.
In her address, she called for “co-created solutions” and a people-first approach to service delivery. Mr. Gathecha, in his handover, highlighted key initiatives, including the rollout of the Human Resource Information System and reforms at the National Youth Service, aimed at achieving performance-based governance and institutional self-reliance.
The leadership change signals a renewed push for efficiency, staff welfare, and accountability in public service delivery.
