Media personality Caroline Mutoko has been atop the Twitter trends in Kenya for for more than the last 12 hours, and it is not for the best of reasons.
The former radio presenter reacted to a news tweet on the feed, quipping why public service vehicles were being allowed to ply the Nairobi Expressway, after a second accident was witnessed at the same spot as another accident that claimed the life of a motorist just about a week earlier.
As soon they caught wind of her tweet, KOT came at her the best (read worst) way they know how, with unprintables splattered under her tweet. From unearthing old allegations against her to accusing her of blatant classism, KOT have taken no prisoners.
True to her unapologetic self, Mutoko responded by means of a video on the morning of Wednesday June 6, just after yet another accident on the Expressway involving a PSV occurred in Westlands. “The myopia of anybody thinking that my concern on PSV (Public Service Vehicles) being on the expressway is about the PSVs…It’s about the fact that number one, as a people we are indisciplined. As nairobians, we are grossly indisciplined, and PSVs in Nairobi are massively indisciplined,” She stated.
Mutoko called for a ‘change of attitude’ in all road users and said there would be no problem with PSVs on the Expressway, so long speed limits were implemented, as well as stricter penalties and fines on errant road users, all to ensure that sanity is restored on the roads.
Calling out the trolls, she sternly offered: “I don’t know how many times Mlolongo has to be built and rebuilt…and in this country and city…PSVs tunangoja siku gari itatoka huko juu iende chini. Mark my words. Stop giving me nonsense.When I say we are caught in trouble, we are and you know it. Shame on you for making this about anything but lives. This expressway…kabla we wake up and get serious…tutaua wengi. Take a seat. I said what I said. We are caught in trouble.”
